Stampin' Up! Catching Butterflies

 Color Challenge

For this challenge, I decide to use the Sunshine and Rainbows Designer Series Paper because it had 2 of the three colors in the challenge.

I used the Mint Macaroon for the card base and for the dress.

When I cut the paper the orientation was different than what I had visualized so I decided to use what I cut and make a second card. I used the new Naturals Collections Alcohol Ink markers so I could experiment with different skin tones.

Stampin' Up! Fable Friends for the Paper Players

Stampin' Up Fable Friends for the Paper Players

I love a good sketch challenge so I picked one from The Paper Players this week.

It's was extremely windy today at my home on the eastern shore of Maryland. It's days like these that Galestown lives up to its name because some of the wind definitely seemed like it was gale-force. Even though it 46 degrees outside the wind chill made it bitter cold. I am so ready for spring. Only 22 days!! So I brought a little spring inside with this card.

I love the Fable Friends stamp set. This sweet little squirrel is just one of the cute critters. There is also a mama goose and her goslings and a bunny. I choose Happy Spring for the sentiment but I could have just as easily chosen Easter Blessings or Darling Baby.

I used a couple of my favorite colors of cardstock. and embossed them with the basketweave embossing folder. I cut and glue the piece of cardstock to a piece of printer paper and embossed them all at the same time.

I am ready for spring, How about you? Chase those winter blues away by doing something creative every day. For a little bit of inspiration, visit The Paper Players and see what over 40 other paper crafters created with this sketch.

Stampin' Up! Pretty Kitty

Stampin' Up! Pretty Kitty for The Paper Players Challenge

When I saw this challenge on the Paper Players blog  I wasn't sure I would try it. Our new 2018 catalog has so many amazing stamp sets featuring animals and I had not ordered any of them yet. When I decided to give it a try I pulled every stamp set I own that have  animals in them and laid them on the table.

I decided to use Pretty Kitty because I love the adorable little kitty and I really wanted to put one in the umbrella. I saw a card on Pinterest that had a kitty in an umbrella. Unfortunately, I waited so long to try it after I saw it that the Weather Together stamp set and matching frame-lits have retired.  But I  just could not  get the idea out of my mind so here it is....

I had to play around with a couple of techniques before I was satisfied with the way it looked. I tried a solid colored umbrella in the new gorgeous grape but quickly realized it was to plain.

I played around with some masking techniques and finally decided to fussy cut the pretty kitty and die-cut the umbrella handle. I did a watercolor wash with pool party on the watercolor paper. Then I  stamped the kitty in the flower pot image in Memento Tuxedo black, after the water color wash had thoroughly dried. I used Stampin' Up! Blends Alcohol Ink markers to color all my images. For the sentiment, I used a Stampin' marker to ink the stamp because I only wanted one line of the sentiment on the card front

My kitty  and the umbrella are popped up with some dimensionals.

I added some Wink Of Stella clear glitter to the flowers and the kitty's ears to make the colors pop a little bit.

For the inside , I stamped the second line of the sentiment  and added some strips of Designers Series Paper(DSP) from the Share What You Love DSP package

If you would like to see more cards using this sketch, there are over 50 entries in this challenge at

Stampin' Up! More Share What You Love

Stampin' Up! Share What You Love For the Paper Players Sketch Challenge #395

As soon as I saw this sketch, I knew I wanted to use the Pearlized Doilies that are part of the Gotta Have it all Bundle that Stampin' Up! is offering during the May 2018 Pre-release.

I also wanted to use my favorite piece of Designers Series Paper (DSP) from the Share What You Love Designers Series Paper Package. I am so happy that this DSP pack is double the size of most of our DSP packs. Instead of 2 sheets of each design, this pack has four sheets. I know I am going to need way more than four of this beautiful, pearlized sheet of paper. I LOVE it!

I mounted the DSP on a piece of Basic Black card stock because I want the colors to pop. I die cut a piece of Tranquil Tide Cardstock and used glue on the backside of the doily to adhere it.

I fussy cut one of the beautiful flowers from the DSP and used a dimensional to make it stand out a little bit. For the sentiment, I used Versamark and white Stampin' Emboss power. For the finishing touch, I added a few of the new Artisan Pearls to give it just a little bling.

Thank You for visiting my blog. If you would like to make this card or a similar one there is a supply list at the bottom of this post. Click on any photo to shop at my Stampin' Store.

Today, May31,2018 is the last day for the Pre-release bundle that contains the DSP, Pearls, and Doilies that I used. Tomorrow, June 1, 2018, all these products will be available  A᷄ la cart when our new catalog debuts.
