Stampin' Up! Bird Ballad for FMS 419

Stampin' Up! Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper

I knew as soon as I saw the new sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches that I would be using Stampin' Up! Designers Series Paper (DSP )for the sketch challenge.

The challenge was picking which one to use. Bird Ballad won because I love the soft muted colors.  Here 's the sketch

And this is what I made.
I couldn't make up my mind which embossing folder to use but  I ended up making 2 cards.

The card I entered uses the New stone 3D Emboss folder that is part of the Power of Hope bundle that is only available as a gift with purchase for Sale-A-Bration.  I love both of the cards I created but I think the combination of the stone with the birds and flowers creates the garden feel that I desired.

CARD 1

CARD 2

The cards are almost identical except for the embossed background and the sentiment strip.

I made the 2nd card first but was not happy when I put the paper down and didn't cover the top right corner all the way. I tried snipping the corner off but didn't like the way. it looked. I know no one would notice but I knew so I made a  2nd  card but this time before I glued the paper down I flipped the paper and card over and used a pencil to draw a line to mark where I would be cutting the paper off and then made sure I put the glue on the inside of the line. This made it much easier to get the paper lined up correctly.

If you would like to create this card there is a list of materials I used below. If you live in the US and don't have a Stampin' Up demonstrator I would love to be your consultant.

If you would like to see what other stampers were inspired to create from this sketch, head on over to Freshly Made Sketches. There are 12 amazing cards by the design team and 60 entries from some very talented stampers.

Painted Poppies for the What's New at SU! Blog Hop

Painted Poppies for the What's New at SU! Blog Hop

Welcome to the What's New at SU!

January blog hop featuring the Peaceful Poppies Suite.

The new 2020 mini -catalog made it's debut a few weeks ago and Sale- A -Bration, Stampin' Up!'s happiest time of the year, has begun. I'm so excited to be hoppin' with a talented group of stampers from around the world.

I have several cards to share with you today. The first two are quick and easy and were designed with the casual crafter in mind. The third card is for the more avid stamper.

 Painted Poppies in Poppy Parade

I started with a card- stock base of Poppy Parade and then I used the Stone 3D Embossing Folder from the Power of Hope Bundle in the Sale-A-Bration Brochure to emboss the whisper white layer.

I used a die from the Painted Labels Dies to cut and emboss the small piece of whisper white cardstock before I stamped the single poppy with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I used the Memento Ink because I knew I would be coloring the flower with the Stampin' Blends Alcohol Ink Markers. when using alcohol ink you should always stamp your image with the Memento to prevent bleeding.

For the sentiment, I used another die from the Painted Labels Dies and a stamp from the Itty Bitty Greetings Stamp Set

Painted Poppies in Pool Party

For my second card, I used the same Stamp and emboss folder but I changed the colors and the frame.

I used crumb cake cardstock for my base and then a layer of whisper white before adding the embossed piece of pool party cardstock.

My sentiment uses a die from the stitched rectangles and a stamp from the Itty Bitty sentimentsstamp set.
