Stampin' Up! Daffodil Daydream

 Daffodil Daydream for FMS#525

This sketch challenge from Freshly Made Sketches caught my eye because it is like having a great big clean slate ready to fill. I had to remind myself the FMS challenges are supposed to be "clean" or I would have overfilled this space.

I choose the Daffodil Daydreams stamp set because it's one of my favorite flowers and right now they are popping up in yards all over my neighborhood. However, I decided to go with a non-traditional color. I think when most people think of Daffodils they think of yellow but they really do come in a variety of other colors.

I used the Ornate Floral 3D embossing folder on my card base. Instead of a straight line on my 2nd layer, I decided to use the scalloped edge from the Scalloped Contours Dies. I love the way this dies scallops the edge and has a stitched look. I stamped my image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and used the Stampin' Blends Alcohol ink markers to color it.

Stampin Up! Easter Friends

 Sketch Challenge

This was a challenging challenge! When I saw this sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, I was stumped. What could I put in those circles? I looked through all my newest stamp sets for ones I had not used yet. I went with the Easter Friends because I thought the little chick in different colors would look like a Marshmallow Peeps.

I wanted to use a piece of the Designers Series Paper (DSP) from the Sunshine and Rainbows DSP. I love the way Stampin' Up!'s DSP coordinates so easily with their cardstock. All I have to do is look at the back of the paper pack and it lists the coordinating colors. For this card, I choose, Flirty Flamingo, Mango Melody, and Pool Party.

I used the new Gingham Embossing Folder because it was the closest looking to a basket weave.I used the Scalloped Contours dies to cut the mat from Flirty Flamingo Cardstock.

I had to play around with the Peeps/Chicks a bit to get them to look the way I wanted. I fussy cut the chicks and used dimensionals to pop them up. Underneath the chicks, I stamped a matching chick and used my Stampin' Blends to color each circle blue and then I glued it to another white circle for some contract against the blue card base.

The Sunshine and Rainbows DSP is a Sale-A-Bration exclusive. You can get it for FREE with qualifying purchase. But you need to hurry because it is only available until Sale-A-Bration is over (2-28-22) or while supplies last.

Stampin' Up! Seas The Day

 Sketch Challenge

It's a sketch challenge this week at Freshly Made Sketches. My first idea when  I saw the sketch was to die cut a rectangle and stamp something on it. But after thinking about it I decided to try something different. It's been a while since I used the block stamping technique but I thought it would work well with this challenge

When you block stamp you use your acrylic stamping block like a stamp and you use markers or an ink pad to lay the color right onto the block. I used my Many Marvelous Markers to create a scene that looks like an ocean floor. I swiped each of the colors on the clear block (C) with the side of the marker's brush tip. Then I blew on it. This is called huffing and it helps to keep the ink wet. I stamped the block directly on the basic white cardstock and held it for a few seconds so the ink would transfer. I used Sahara Sand for the sand and Coastal Cabana and Pool Party for the water. I stamped the air bubbles with Misty Moonlight. After it dried I stamped the other images on top of it.

I used the Stitched with Whimsy dies to create a stitched border on my basic white panel.  I used the Thank You sentiment from the Seascape Stamp Set. I used some dimensionals to adhere my panel to the card base.
