Stampin' Up! Sentiments

Where is the sentiment?

If you are like me you have piles of beautiful cards just waiting to be sent but when you need a card quick you don't have one with the right sentiment.
When this happens to me it is almost always a sympathy card. You never know when you are going to need one and unfortunately, when it rains it pours. I rarely run out of birthday or thank you cards. but sympathy cards I never seem to have enough of them.

Sometimes when I make a card I don't have a specific person in mind to send it to. I just want to play with a certain stamp set or try a new technique, so I stamp them with the sentiments I use most which are Happy Birthday and Thank you.  I also use Thinking of you a lot because it can be used for all most all occasions.

However, If you want to make sure you always have a card when you need it there are several ways to handle this.
  1. You can always cover over the sentiment you have on a card with the Happy Mistake technique that I demonstrator on my YouTube video  Quick Tip #6 Happy Mistake
  2.          You can leave the sentiment off until you need the card

Method #2 works great if you do not have a lot of layers and texture. If you have lots of layering you may not be able to get a good impression

When I made the card above I left plenty of space at the bottom to stamp a sentiment when I need it.

I have the texture that I created with the Fluttering Textured Impression Embossing Folder and the dimension of the free-floating butterfly but below them is a nice flat space just waiting for a sentiment to be stamped.

I created the butterfly by stamping the image with Versamark and heat embossing it with Copper Stampin' Emboss Powder. I colored it with Stampin' Blends Alcohol Ink Markers and fussy cut it.
I used glue dots on the underside of the butterflies abdomen so the wings stayed loose because I wanted it to look like it is ready to fly off the card.

Thank You for stopping by. If you would like to try any of the products I used to make this card a complete product list is below.

Stampin' Up Beautiful Day Sketch Challenge

Inspire.Create.Challenges #014 | Sketch Challenge

While looking for some inspiration, I stumbled onto this challenge on  Inspire. Create. Stamping Challenges. blog. I love challenges because they help me try new ideas and techniques. As soon as I saw this sketch, I just knew a butterfly would replace the heart. I have been playing around with the Beautiful Day stamp set and love the big butterfly.
I had been experimenting with the Springtime Foils Speciality Designer Paper(DSP)  and had a lot of it on my work table in different colors. This paper is so versatile. You can color the images or brayer ink onto the paper to create a different look But it is only available until March 31, 2018, because it is a free with  $50 purchase item as part of the Sale-A-Bration 2018.I knew I wanted to use the foil paper so I choose to use some of the colors I had tried out. I rolled the ink onto the Springtime Foils with a brayer and then wiped the excess of with a tissue because the ink does not soak into the foil only the paper.

I cut a strip of the paper I had inked with Sweet Sugarplum Classic Stampin' Ink and put it across the top and put the sentiment on top of it.

I embossed the butterfly with copper embossing powder and colored it with Stampin' Blends Alcohol Ink markers and then I fussy cut it.

The raised edge of the embossing makes it very easy to color and the colors really pop out.
I always use glue dots to adhere a butterfly so the wings are free to fly. I put two glue dots on the backside in the middle of the abdomen.
When I adhere it this way it gives the impression that the butterfly has just landed and is free to fly away.

Stampin' Up! Black Ice

 Black Ice Hot New Technique

If you are on Pinterest or YouTube you have probably already heard about the hottest new stamping technique. BLACK ICE!  It is all the rage. Most Stampers are crediting Melissa Kerman of Melissa Crafting Treehouse as the creator. And that's how I found out about it.
I created multiple panels with this technique because I was having so much fun
I try color some of the images with Stampin' Blends Alcohol Ink markers
and then I started making the panels into cards.
I combined two of the ribbons from the Shimmer Ribbon pack that is only available during Sale-A-Bration 2018

I really enjoyed playing with this new technique. It was a lot of fun

I used silver foil paper but you could also use copper or gold for a different look.
If you would like to try it there is a complete list of products below. Some of them are only available for a few more days because they are Sale-A-Bration 2018 exclusives and Sale-A-Bration 2018 ends March 31, 2018
Thank you for visiting my blog.
