Stampin' Up! Black Ice

 Black Ice Hot New Technique

If you are on Pinterest or YouTube you have probably already heard about the hottest new stamping technique. BLACK ICE!  It is all the rage. Most Stampers are crediting Melissa Kerman of Melissa Crafting Treehouse as the creator. And that's how I found out about it.
I created multiple panels with this technique because I was having so much fun
I try color some of the images with Stampin' Blends Alcohol Ink markers
and then I started making the panels into cards.
I combined two of the ribbons from the Shimmer Ribbon pack that is only available during Sale-A-Bration 2018

I really enjoyed playing with this new technique. It was a lot of fun

I used silver foil paper but you could also use copper or gold for a different look.
If you would like to try it there is a complete list of products below. Some of them are only available for a few more days because they are Sale-A-Bration 2018 exclusives and Sale-A-Bration 2018 ends March 31, 2018

Stampin' Up! Waterfront for The Paper Players Sketch Challenge

Sketch Challenge PP386

I have been wanting to use the Waterfront stamp set every since UPS delivered it. So I thought this sketch would be perfect for it.  Waterfront was inspired by $ 1,000,000.Sales Achiever Connie Heisey. I am in Connie's downline so I know what an amazing person she is so I was not surprised to see the stamp set she inspired is absolutely incredible. It is so versatile and there are so many possibilities. Lakes, Mountains, beaches and more.  I went with a mountain and lake theme.
Here's the sketch The Paper Players provided

I decided to use softer colors because when I think of sitting by a lake I think of peace and tranquility. Pool Party and Pear Pizzazz are such peaceful colors.

The sentiment fit perfectly with the banner I die cut and I added a bit of copper trim. I cut the tails on the little bow extra short because I did not want to block the sentiment.

Stampin' Up! Cozy Cottage for Freshly Made Sketches #329

Freshly Made Sketches #329

I have a tendency to fill all the space on a card. So trying to create a card with white space really challenges me. This week I think I nailed it.

Every week Freshly Made Sketches releases a new sketch challenge, no matter what the sketch looks like, part of the challenge is always to be the queen of clean by creating a card with lots of "white space" and clean edges.

As soon as I saw the big circle on the sketch I knew I wanted to use the Cozy cottage Hostess stamp and the Stampin' Blends. This stamp was perfect for coloring.

I stamped the image in Memento Tuxedo Black since I would be using the Blends. The Stampin' Blends are alcohol ink markers and when you color with alcohol you should not use solvent ink or your colors will all smear together and you will have a muddy mess.

I played around with the sentiment on different colors. I even tried heat embossing on vellum but in the end, I decided on the Memento black ink on Smokey Slate cardstock. After looking it over I felt like something was missing so I took my photo and then went back and used my journaling pen to highlight the circle. I think it really makes the colors pop. What do you think?

If you'd like to see the other entries head on over to  Freshly Made Sketches.

You can make this too .......
